Trusted voices from around the country have answered the call to support the 2020 Census. The unique tone, range, and pitch of your voice adds major influence in securing millions of dollars for your community by raising awareness and encouraging friends, family, and associates in your network to get counted in the 2020 Census. Responding to the 2020 Census is easy, safe, and extremely important and we all have a role to play. When our community is undercounted, we all suffer. What is a “trusted voice? Whose voice do you trust? Who trusts your voice? Trust is one of the great qualities of leadership. Trusted voices are people whose voices, opinions, and presence have value in their communities. You are a trusted voice. You are a social influencer just like the representatives of businesses, schools, churches, and other organizations who are raising their voices to get people in their community to take the Census—because we’re all in this together. Your voice matters because it is needed to raise the volume for economic justice, equal representation, and the pursuit of happiness in your community. Your local and state representatives are listening to you and need your count. The number of state representatives is determined by how many people are accounted for in the Census. You make the difference. So, how do you play your part in making a change? Text the link 2020Census.gov to 10 friends and ask them to complete the Census if they haven’t already. If you’re reading this, you probably have a social media account, so go ahead and post a Census reminder on your Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. There’s an old saying, “The eye sees everything but itself.” That means we often don’t see the true value of ourselves. “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth,” said Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Every person you get to complete the Census equals an average of $1440 to your community. That’s a lot of rent that promoting Census can help pay for. Do your part, take the 2020 Census and encourage others to take the Census as well.
